Phase II of the community plan - 'CBD' Upgrade plans
COMMUNITY PLAN - PHASE II
With ‘Phase One’ of the Community Plan completed (the Community Walkway), focus is now on beginning ‘Phase Two’. This part of the plan involves revitalising the “Village CBD” beginning with a new fence along the Stanway Road end of the Domain and tidying up and painting of the ‘green Tennis shelter’. The HCDG has received funding from the Manawatu District Council for materials, paint etc… and funding has also been approved for refreshing the area around the Cenotaph. Above is the proposed plan for the area. We welcome your feedback which can be sent to halcombe.community@gmail.com

HALCOMBE AND ITS COMMUNITY
Situated 12 km north west of Feilding and 4 km from the Rangitikei River, Halcombe was once the main railway junction in the central North Island. Plans were for it to be the major centre of the Manawatu, however an active riverbed on the Rangitikei River prevented this progressing and development was shifted to Palmerston North.
Today Halcombe is a vibrant rural settlement with over 500 residents. Central to the village area is the War Memorial, Tavern, Memorial Hall, domain, Playcentre, fire brigade, Marae and school. The surrounding farmland is predominately used for a variety of livestock farming and cropping, with an increasing number of lifestyle blocks.
Halcombe gives residents the benefit of a rural lifestyle with an easy commute to Feilding, Palmerston North and Ohakea.
Included in the wider Halcombe district are the Stanway, Tokorangi, and Kakariki communities.
