Stanway Halcombe Water Scheme (SHWS)
Scheme Update
Water restrictor and tank entry checks
You will likely receive a visit from Gavin of City Care over the next 6-8 weeks as they complete a system check and audit. Should anyone have any known issues/leaks with the water going into your tank, please report this to council or a member of the committee to ensure this receives immediate attention.
Water Meters
Council have ordered five new water meters and have advised the Committee that these will be installed by November 2015.
These new meters will provide telemetry reporting and will record any flow irregularities and assist in quickly isolating any leaks or issues. This metering will also enable us to measure the performance of the scheme and identify any areas where the allocated supply is not being met.
New connections & sale of units
At the meeting on 18 August 2015 the Committee implemented a moratorium on the trading of units through until 30 June 2016.
The intent of the moratorium is to provide time to implement some key system maintenance/upgrade works and to assess the flow data from the new water meters. Put simply, the Committee wants to understand the scheme capacity and capability to ensure new and/or additional connections can be fully supplied, particularly given the supply issues experienced last summer.
Application for New Connection
Application forms are available from Council or can be obtained from Committee members. All applications must be submitted to Council for formal processing and will be presented at the next committee meeting.
To submit applications:
Email: public@mdc.govt.nz
Drop off: Drop off application forms to Council reception
Committee: Submit to a Committee member
A report needs to be generated with every application so when they are emailed or dropped into the Office they will be dated, logged and then forwarded to appropriate Staff for the generation of a report to accompany the application.
Sale of Units
To register a desire to sell existing units (or purchase additional units) please put this in writing and submit to Council in the same manner as new connection applications. A register of parties interested in trading units will be maintained and submitted to the Committee.
As with new connection applications, decisions will be made following the moratorium period and once scheme supply information is known.
