Stanway Halcombe Rural Water Scheme (SHRWS)

Stanway-Halcombe Rural Water Supply - This water is sourced from a shallow bore on the Rangitikei River, with reservoirs on Awawa Road and Makino Road. It is a non-potable, restricted water supply that services the surrounding farming community. This water supply is intended for stock only and is not recommended as a source of drinking water.
Manawatu District Council

The Stanway Halcombe Rural Water Scheme (SHRWS) is a water reticulation scheme provided by the Manawatu District Council (MDC), with local liaison provided by the SHRWS Committee (see below).

For information about new connections and sale of units, please contact a SHRWS Committee member or the MDC for advice.
Application for New Connection
Application forms are available from Council or can be obtained from Committee members.  All applications must be submitted to Council for formal processing and will be presented at the next committee meeting.
To submit applications:
Email: public@mdc.govt.nz
Drop off: Drop off application forms to Council reception
Committee: Submit to a Committee member
A report needs to be generated with every application so when they are emailed or dropped into the Office they will be dated, logged and then forwarded to appropriate Staff for the generation of a report to accompany the application.

Sale of Units
To register a desire to sell existing units (or purchase additional units) please put this in writing and submit to Council in the same manner as new connection applications.  A register of parties interested in trading units will be maintained and submitted to the Committee.
As with new connection applications, decisions will be made following the moratorium period and once scheme supply information is known.
