Our Soldier's Stories
Halcombe Community is committed to commemorating ANZAC Day in a significant way each year. As part of its 2019 initiative, the ANZAC Committee began "Our Soldiers' Stories" - an archive that provides a place for community members to record their family stories about local soldiers, their service and their return home, and the impact that war had on families in Halcombe and in the wider area.
It is also a space to display images of significant war memorabilia - medals, letters, postcards etc - from the Halcombe area, and a place for community members to ask questions and find out more about their own family treasures and objects of war from past conflicts. A number of stories and memorabilia have already been submitted and were published on this website in the lead-up to ANZAC Day 2019. Please click on the links to read individual "Soldier Stories". If you have your own family stories that you'd like to share or perhaps memorabilia to ask questions about, we encourage you to make a submission to the Halcombe Community ANZAC Committee.
